Hi Gina,

Yes, your line of business may be an exception Wink Let's hear some others views on this.

Most of us know how important SEO is becoming to online businesses; but ones got to think that when the traffic arrives, we will need proven methods to convert these visitors into clients.

I do believe that google likes video content on a site too and ranks pages with video quite highly, is this correct?

Hi,

That's an important question Gina, and will certainly take this opportunity to answer it Wink

Web video is a disruptive technology that is changing the SEO game; Google purchased YouTube for $1.65 billion – is it wise to say that their algorithms have been changed/enhanced for web video? Of course it is.

It’s been proven that one can obtain a good ranking on Google overnight using web video – as long as you know what you’re doing.

Video can give any sized business greater exposure – there is an advantage in having videos hosted with YouTube and similar; in that these sites have a pre-established page rank and authority to begin with.  Videos hosted on these sites can often be optimized for first page rankings by merely optimizing a given video’s title.
Universal search results are biased towards YouTube videos – thus first page rankings are quite easily achieved.

Just don’t have a YouTube video player (it kicks your visitors off to other similar content) on your site; the trick is for the user to go to YouTube etc… via the links provided from for i.e. Google search results, and then back to your site Wink

And Gina, www.briteways.com might not need a video testimonial, but it certainly could do with a video introduction (welcome section); just think you could then enhance your existing marketing efforts further, from the above advice.

I think that testimonials are a key component in gaining trust during the sales process.

This can be quite hard to convey on a website as the visitor must 'find' their own way to these in most cases.

Having some some comments amounst the website copy is a good method alone with a link to the main testimonial page.

My advise would be to use have a landing page and track the clicks via ppc to see if the visitor is turned off by video on the page

or if they actually view the video.

This can be done quite cheaply and is all part of the research needed when putting together a website or sales presentation.

Hi,

This is in my opinion a great example of video on a website; a recent project - I and a colleague completed:

www.aspray.com

This video works well on their homepage. And yes, as Paul has pointed out, there are ways of tracking clicks etc… Google Analytics been a favourite to achieve this.
