Looking for good directories to submit to? try this search term

+"your phrase"  +"add url"
e.g wedding add url http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GPTB_en-GBGB290GB290&q=%2b%22wedding%22++%2b%22add+url%22

as well as "add url" you can use 'add site', 'submit site' and many other footprints. myself I have software that will run off and find link partners for me using this sort of footprint searching.

The benefit of searching out partners and places to submit like this is that the sites you are finding are definitely i spidered and indexed as you are finding them from a google search, they are also returned in some semblance of  importance Smiley

Anyone else got any hints on searching out places to submit  your site and gain backlinks?
I ain't gonna just hand all mine over, which is why I only gave you one or two instances of the wordsearch footprint. Cheesy

Good info as usual  Smiley Trouble is these days most directories insist on paying or having a recip link. Would you recommend having a links page that is on your domain but not actually linked to anywhere from your site itself ie. hidden? Purely for directories that ask for a recip.

you can have the link elswhere, but if you are not happy to have a link on your site to the directory, then possibly you shouldn't submit to it Smiley

I would say that your chances of getting approved in a directory increase 100% when you actually submit Smiley

Seriously though, if you have used the method above, then you will find sites that are in the google index, and they are in the index because Google likes them, and they like them because they are probably half decent.

So the chances of getting approved are good.

This free tool is essentially the same as your search, but does the work for you (multiple terms) and displays a compact list of clickable links.

Hi Old Welsh Guy

One problem I've found with the keyword + "add url" approach is the number of websites requesting reciprocal links (not good!) or over priced submission fees.

Any tips on finding nice free directories to submit too?  Grin

yep, it is called hard work (or outsourcing) Cheesy

These are the ideal tasks to outsource. You get the list, you then get your man abroad to do the grunt work.  Ideally get them to check if it is paid or free, if the page is cached in Google, and if so what date. There are other things you can get as well, so what information do you think would make for getting a good link evaluation?  (not just spilling my guts here, I want to make you all think) Smiley

Two points here
1. What is rong with reciprocal linking with on topic sites?
2. are you aware you can add -reiprocal -backlink etc to the search term to remove sites that have that text on the page?

These are things that need to be done (I have a bespoke script that does it all for me)
