Goole trust rank is becoming more and more important as they develop their algorithm. More and more people are stuffing the web with meaningless sites, many of them affiliate sites all selling the same thing, with the data coming from the same database and really nothing of value being added. So how do you get YOUR site at the top og the Search results?

TRUST, you need to get google to trust you, really is as simple as that all other things being equal (SEO wise).

The more Google know, the more they will trust your site. so here are some things to do to get goog to trust you

1. add your bricks and mortar address to every single page on the site. This will help you hugely with local search also
2. Add contact us and more importantly terms and conditions pages to your site and link them in the footer. These are phrases google likes.
3.link to good sites from within your content (ALL good sites do this)
4. register with Google webmaster tools
5. verify your site within GWMT this is a major league step in getting trust fro  google
6. use google tools like gmail etc from the same account as your GWMT login as again google have more information about your site
7. Instal google analytics again more information about your site.

There are othes but it is Saturday so i am stopping now. Any questions?

"linking to good sites from within your content"

By this do you mean dropping in a link to a similar site that would help your customer? So say you sold cars you could say 'we recommend this garage for your servicing' etc?

Or do you mean 'here is a link to the Ferrari website' as in linking to powerful sites?

Thanks

Both, it depends on your site. If you are aiming at local ranking then linking to local sites will help geo locating as well as theme

So if I had an article onsite about a particular photographic print and I said it had a certain visual effect created using Adobe Photoshop (url) software this would help my rankings and trust a teeny bit?

yep it would, but don't go overboard. Of course it would only help your page trust if it was about image manipulation or any other phot related topic. Having a site about cars and linking to Adobe isn't going to help. Also outbounds should be to specific pages rather than main homepages. In short, if you make your pages a better resourse, you get rewarded Smiley

Matt Cutts actually posted this in a reply today confirming what I have said

“what a nightmare will now be unleashed.” That’s what’s been running quite well for over a year now though. I mentioned it in passing, but there are also parts of our system that trust and encourage sites to link out well.

The authoritative websites has the best Google trust rank. Like .gov ; .edu ; .mil
However there are several other websites with this privilege.

About 8 years ago I created an open source friendly search engine and I called LinuxBázis - LinuxBase Just for a sample it's an authoritative website in the eyes of Google.

I think an authoritative website = time + many relevant links
