Hi,
I am new to this forum & web site promotion. I have a relatively new web site ( www.avagodriving.co.uk )that I created via a simple program called Wix. Now as I understand it 84% of buisseness is done on the hallowed 'page 1' and that is my goal is it realistic ? I am not a computer geek ( I am a UK Driving Instructor). but from reading alot on various sites I am led to believe that social networking sites, answering questions, and video presentations are the way to go ? Is this correct also are back links dead ??
Also should I use an off the shelf product such as 'Traffic bug' or 'Brute force 2' these products cost a fortune I appreciate they took time to produce but they are priced out of my league.
So in a nut shell so I still actively promote my site as above or am I wasting my time ?
Please have a look at my site and any advice will be greatly appreciated
cheers

that is the google cache of your site (as google sees it), so what do you think your site is about based on that?

is what google has listed for your site Sad

No pretty reading is it.

Pretty but, ultimately, useless as a website.  The above links are telling (damning, even).

If you want your website to draw sales then please hire someone who knows what they're doing to build it for you.  I can recommend someone.

If you are aiming for page 1 (isn't everyone?) you will probably stand more chance if you have a real website built rather than one of the free or cheap ones that places like Wix offer. I doubt you can optimise them well enough for the search engines.

Also I would use a proper email address ie. enquiries @avagodriving.co.uk as it looks more professional.

I'm afraid page 1 isn't a realistic goal with a website built with a wizard like Wix. You won't be able to SEO it fully and it will suffer in the long run.

You're right in thinking that social networking, such as providing company news and customer service (answering questions, etc) is a proactive technique. However, backlinks are not dead - just always remember it's the quality of the links and not the quantity. Try to avoid link farms and the like.

You're not wasting your time promoting your site on social networking sites and video sites, but don't forget to utilise all of Google's free webmaster tools and analytics! Smiley

It would be worthwhile getting a professional to design and build your website.

You could get a lot of traffic and business from a well-SEO'd website and ranking well for local areas shouldn't be too difficult.

Who would you get to desing a site? any recommends?

I can't really recommend anyone. The only professional site I have had built is an ecommerce store. All my other sites I have built myself, mostly based around wordpress.
